I love when the spoonbills are in the valley! (Are they just here in the winter or is that just wehn I notice them?) Thanks for sharing your pictures. I was glad to stumble across your blog and will be back to look again! and will link it to my gardening blog.
Thank you for your comments. I don't know when the seasons the Spoonbills are here. I suspect the people at the Los Ebanos Nature Preserve would know. It was fun seeing them in the resaca.
It's not all paradise in tropical Texas in the Rio Grande Valley. True, we are blessed with amazing weather, barring the occassional blast of artic air in the winter. Thanks to the warm weather, we can grow an amazing array of plants, but we have to overcome shortfalls in our soil (high levels of salt and low levels of iron) and moderate amount of rain (26-27 inches).
